Bible Nav : Lookup

Verse Lookup

Verse Lookup
Verse Lookup provides Bible access by book, chapter, and verse.

A Lookup link appears at the bottom of every Bible Nav page —

Book, chapter, and verses can be specified via drop-down menus.  If the first verse number is omitted, the whole chapter is displayed.  The whole chapter will also be displayed if there is any confusion with the first or second verses entered (either one greater than the last verse number in the chapter, for example).

When the Verse Lookup page is first accessed, a random verse will be ‘pre-filled’ in the Lookup form.  Press the Look Up button to have the verse displayed.

The book, chapter, and verses can also be specified as free-format text.  The Lookup process is very forgiving of the text entered.  For example, all these specifications —

Will all be recognized as I Corinthians 13:12-13.  The recognition process has been designed so that a Bible reference can be spoken into a phone and be identified.  I've discovered that the voice recognition software on the latest smart phones may not at first understand the Bible book you speak, but as soon as you say “chapter,” the Bible recognition kicks in and the book is understood.  For that reason, for example, if you want Psalm 23, say “Psalm Chapter 23.”

Any Bible reference entered as free-form text will take lookup precedence over any book, chapter and verse selected from the drop-down menus.

If the book, chapter, and verse entered as free-form text can't be recognized, John 1:1-5 is displayed.

To demonstrate the capabilities of my smart phone with others, I love to go into Bible Nav, speak a Bible book and chapter, then press the Listen link at the bottom of Bible Reader, then Play at the top.  Google never sounded so Smart!

Luk 21:28 :  And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
